Keeping Score?

Here are a few of your responses to the journal posting:

"Like the picture of this woman with her rose stem green sweater with a sewn on heart covering her heart. It's a symbol of a woman's cake love and devotion to a man"

"She has the expression that your teacher gets when you are talking in class"

"If he is late or forgets something, she makes sure to remind him of that time she needed him most, so she can get that new charcoal fluffy mink coat in the Neiman's catalog"

"All the compartments in her toaster are spotless and squeaky clean"

Two quick questions:
What is the embroidered heart above her heart all about?

What is she keeping the "score" of?

I think that the heart around her heart on her sweater is a symbol to how much she loves her family. she is a homemaker. and when she says that she is keeping score i think that it means that she is remembering all the bad things that her husband does and also keeps track of who does more work around the house

I think that the heart on her sweater represents where her heart should be. With that Grinch like stare and sweater I think she is more concerned that things are fair, rather than them being best for everyone. Meaning even if it doesn't benefit everyone for her to gain the advantage for once that's what matters. There seems to be a sense of hostility towards the male gender here. It makes me think of the feminist movement. Although that seems sexist to say it honestly is the best interpretation i can muster with the comment the picture is accompanied with what more could you expect?

I apologize in advance for offending anyone.

She does kind of have that grinch vibe going on. Where the heart is three sizes too small.

But I must admit, it would suck to be stuck in her world.

Okay, so Daniel used the "feminist movement" as an attempt to describe his view point of being fair. Let me tell you about fair, the fact that women weren't allowed to have an opinion about the country until the 1900's was in my opinion, pretty FAIR. The fact that women were constantly persecuted by the male gender because of a mythical tlae, Eve ate the apple fist, FAIR? What about how men could beat their wives with a stick no bigger than the man's thumb, FAIR? What about currently how in the middle East, women are suppose in places women are suppose to cover their faces, marry men four times their age, and all around throw themselves at men's feet, how fair is that?

Personally, I blieve the heart on her sweater representsevery single women who couldn't live their life's dream, their true heart's desire because men and religion would't allow them.

First of all, I do not know if this post is written by someone in the class or not. Second, I love the anon. entry about women's equality. The reading of the heart is strong and makes a solid claim. It would make a great thesis statement in a paper. Finally, I do believe that in the US, women have not been and are not being treated equal to men.

    Really not cool.

I do however have some concerns about the post. First, while I certainly want to encourage differing opinions let us please be careful to stay focused on the issue and still be considerate of the person who is being addressed. Second, please do not use all caps. It is like joining a conversation and yelling at the top of your lungs. Those who were talking will stop, and probably leave. Finally, we must be careful not to condemn entire groups for things that were done by a few of them. Do we condemn everyone who lives in the US (who is not a Native American) for what was done to them in the past? Or do we think all white people are racist garbage because slavery happened in the past? Are all British garbage for what they did in India, not to mention everywhere else? We cannot generalize entire groups without crossing some dangerous lines. I think we also must be careful to hold people accountable for their own actions, not the actions of their ancestors. We really cannot focus on Adam's transgression or Eve's.

By the way whoever the "anonymous" poster is, please keep participating and do not loose the fire and the passion that you had in the post. It makes will give your writing strength, just focus it.
